Cultural Area Studies

The Cultural Area Studies major provides a program of study for students who are fascinated by a particular area of the world – its language, literature, history, religion, and culture. The goal for the major is to help students acquire a deep understanding of the area they choose and to structure a part of that understanding from within an academic discipline. Students achieve this depth of understanding through their academic coursework, their language training, and the time they spend living and studying in the cultural area. Students will work with the chair of Cultural Area Studies to design a course of study that meets the requirements of the major.
