Former head coach Jack Lengyel was the centerpiece of the Fighting Scots’ football reunion. Lengyel guided Wooster to a 24-21 record from 1966-70 before moving on to resurrect the program at Marshall University after a plane crash killed most of its team Nov. 14, 1970. That story was immortalized in the 2006 movie “We Are Marshall.”

Two of the team captains, Storm Tropea (No. 60) and Matt DeGrand (No. 40), lead the Fighting Scots on to the field for pre-game warm-ups.

Austin Holter cocks his arm before airing the ball out during the first half of Saturday night’s game. In a match-up of two of the better quarterbacks in the NCAA Div. III North Region, Holter accounted himself very well, combining for 309 yards of total offense – 221 passing and 88 rushing.

The crowd, which was 4,500-plus strong gets fired up as the Scots take the lead during the third quarter. It marked the first time in two years that Case Western Reserve had been behind during a regular season game.

As the temperature dipped into the lower 40s, steam formed off many of the players, including Wooster’s Chris Moore.

With Wooster’s offense on the field, senior outside linebacker Matt DeGrand takes a break and listens to the coach’s adjustments while steam rises off his head.
