Men's Golf
Historically, one of the most successful athletic programs at Wooster has been the golf team. The Fighting Scots’ crowning achievement was winning the NCAA Div. III Championships in 1975, which remains as the school’s lone team national championship, but that is one of just 22 appearances they’ve made at the NCAA’s over the years.
Other impressive numbers include seven conference championships and 33 overall tournament titles, while individually, Wooster’s program has produced 25 All-Americans, five medalists at league tourneys, and 75 all-conference selections since 1970.
The Scots are a member of one of the premiere golf leagues in Div. III – the North Coast Athletic Conference. Typically, there are multiple squads ranked among the top-25 in the nation, and it is an innovative group, becoming one of the first conferences to adopt a new championship format, which takes scores from four mandatory events – two in the fall and two in the spring – to produce a true champion.
Home to the Scots means the Wooster Country Club, a challenging par-72 layout on beautiful Ohio countryside just a mile or two from campus. In fact, the course has played host to the NCAA Div. III Championships three times (1978, 1982, 1993).
