Volleyball's Riley and Beal Earn all-NCAC Accolades

Following its second consecutive 20-win season, The College of Wooster volleyball team had two individuals selected to the all-North Coast Athletic Conference Team, highlighted by senior middle hitter KateLynn Riley who claimed NCAC Player of the Year honors and a second-straight first-team selection. Hiram Ends Wooster's Season in NCAC Tournament Semis

The College of Wooster volleyball team saw its season come to an end on Friday night as Hiram College took down the Fighting Scots in three-straight sets (25-20, 25-16, 25-12) in the semifinals of the North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament at Springfield, Ohio. Complete Story

Program Overview

Wooster has become a consistent force on the volleyball scene throughout the 2000s, having rebuilt a winning tradition that saw it reach its greatest heights with a 40-win season (40-7) and the inaugural North Coast Athletic Conference championship in 1984. After that, the Fighting Scots endured a lengthy down period, but those days seem to be well behind them as they’ve put together seven winning seasons over the last nine while finishing among the top-three of the NCAC four times during that stretch.

A number of school records have been broken recently, and individually, libero Ali Drushal finished her career with the seventh-most digs in NCAA Div. III history (3,043). She was selected to the 2008 All-America Team, as was outside hitter KateLynn Riley – the first in school history so honored.

Wooster plays its home matches, and practices, at Timken Gymnasium, a spacious facility, and the Scots annually face a rigorous schedule of weekend tournaments against NCAA Div. III Great Lakes competition to prepare for conference play.

Lizzi Beal

Wooster Legacy Gets Passed Down to Volleyball's Beal

Lizzi Beal admits that sports didn’t come easy to her when she was growing up as young girl, but her dad kept inviting her to the backyard to play anyway. She must have picked up a thing or two, because now Lizzi is dishing out assists at The College of Wooster like her dad did over 25 years ago – only in another sport. Learn More »
