Program Overview
Wooster is consistently one of the winningest tennis programs within the NCAA Div. III Central Region, as the Fighting Scots have averaged approximately 15 victories a season (14.3) while producing winning records 23 times over the last 30 years.
Noteworthy, Wooster is one of just three schools to have won the North Coast Athletic Conference, which has earned a reputation as one of the best Div. III men’s tennis leagues in the nation. The Scots captured titles in 1985, 1989, 1990, and 1996, and have finished among the top-three 15 out of 25 times overall.
Wooster’s success on the courts, which dates all the way back to 1923 when the program was founded, includes three NCAA Div. III Tournament appearances as a team (1994, 1996, 1997). Additionally, a number of Scots have been selected as individuals to play in the NCAA Championships for singles and doubles.
Features of the Wooster program include 10 well-maintained, on-campus courts and winter use of a nearby indoor facility (Central Tennis & Fitness Club) as well as a challenging schedule, which begins with a traditional 10-to-12-day swing in Hilton Head, S.C. Upon returning north, the Scots play a series of tough regional foes, all in preparation for a run at another NCAC championship.
