Indoor Track & Field
Program Overview
Wooster’s track & field teams pride themselves on being among the best year-in and year-out in the North Coast Athletic Conference. Traditionally, the Fighting Scots are well-rounded squads as they feature balanced scoring, thanks to a coaching staff with expertise in a variety of events.
Training begins at the onset of a new semester in early January and the indoor season culminates with a conference meet during early March, while the outdoor portion of the schedule kicks off with a southern training trip during the school’s unique two-week spring break, followed by the annual Wooster Invitational at its home facility, which was resurfaced during the summer of 2009. The entire season is geared towards the student-athletes peaking at the NCAC Championships in early May, a philosophy that has consistently produced outstanding results.
Since the NCAC was formed in 1984, Wooster’s men’s team has finished top-five in the 10-team league 20 out of 25 times, including each of the last four seasons, and the Scot women have been even better with four team championships and 21 top-five placements (10 top-three). Also, they have combined for 30 all-American performances (eight men, 22 women) at the NCAA Div. III Championships with numerous others competing in the national meet as well.
In addition to their athletic achievements, Wooster is regularly cited as an “All Academic Team” from the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association of America.
