The photographs was taken at the forefield of Bear Glacier just west of Seward, Alaska. The southern Kenai Mountains are composed of great thicknesses of sedimentary rocks that are ancient remnants of the seafloor. As tectonic processes raise these rocks into the atmosphere, glaciers and other earth surface processes strive to bring them down.
