GEOLOGY - STRUCTURAL GEOLOGY/TECTONICS
Applications are invited for a tenure-track assistant professor position in the Department of Geology at The College of Wooster beginning in August 2009. The successful candidate will teach Structural Geology, Processes and Concepts of Geology and introductory geology courses which may include Oceanography, Environmental Geology, and Geology of Natural Hazards. Skills in remote sensing and GIS are also desirable. Wooster has a strong undergraduate Independent Study program in which the successful candidate will participate as an advisor. Participation in the College’s interdisciplinary programs, including First-Year Seminar, is expected. Applicants for this position should have a Ph.D. or be ABD. The Department
of Geology has four faculty members and averages 25-40 undergraduate
majors annually. Major research
facilities within the department include tree ring, GIS, sediment
core, paleontology, sample preparation,
petrology/fluid inclusion, and mineral separation laboratories. The Department of Geology is a member of the OhioSeis seismic
network and the Keck Geology Consortium.
