I am a visiting assistant professor in the Department of Geology at the College of Wooster, where in the Spring 2007 semester I will teach Geology 110: Environmental Geology and Geology 300: Geomorphology. In the Fall 2007 semester I taught Geology 103: Oceanography and Geology 210: Climate Change. I have completed my Ph.D. in the Department of Earth Sciences at Simon Fraser University in the spring 2006 semester. My research focus during my Ph.D. was the effects of climate change on the alpine environment in Garibaldi Provincial Park. I previously studied environmental change at an ice cap in the Patagonian Andes, Chile. I had the chance to collect extensive knowledge on field based research and am familiar with geomorphological mapping, tree coring, lichen measurements, snowpack measurements, geological mapping, lake coring from ice and rafts, stream monitoring, glaciological studies with ablation stakes and radar equipment, peat coring, installation of automated weather stations, and vegetation mapping.

I consider outreach to the general public a very important component of my research and have given presentations to the general public, written articles for newspapers and magazines, and am involved in Meltwatch, an outreach project of the David Suzuki Foundation. Furthermore, I have worked as staff geologist on the M.V. Polar Star along the westcoast of South America, in Antarctica, and in northern Europe, where I presented general as well as regional/local Earth Science topics. In 2006 I was teaching first, third, and fourth year classes in the Departments of Earth Sciences and Geography at Simon Fraser University.

Apart from information on my research and related things, I have incoporated a few personal topics too. Older Stuff leads you to some of my first attempts at putting information on the internet - lots to read and great pictures. And Music will give you a chance to see how I spend my time, and money, apart from research - concerts and CD's. And of course a random selection of photos.
