Trip to Ireland, July & August 2007 On the way back from our 2007 geological field trip to Estonia, we stopped by Ireland to meet with Patrick Wyse Jackson, a lecturer at Trinity College Dublin who has experience with the Ordovician fauna of the Baltics. We decided to spend some time seeing the country, so we toured Dublin and then took the train to Londonderry in Northern Ireland. Our few photos of our trip are organized by dates below: July 30: Our first task was to visit Dr. Wyse Jackson in the Geology Department at Trinity College Dublin. We spent what remained of the day touring the city. Our main focus was on Irish history, especially 20th Century history. July 31: We took the first morning train from Dublin to Belfast, where we caught another train to Londonderry, arriving there in the early afternoon. We walked through the walled city and then spent the night in a bed and breakfast in the Bogside neighborhood. August
1 : Just a few photos of our return by train to Dublin. We left early
the next morning for home.
