The College of Wooster was awarded a grant for $270,000 by the Henry Luce Foundation to sponsor a new program called Environmental Analysis and Action.

Wooster’s Environmental Analysis and Action (EAA) Program will emphasize participation, integration, and an empirical approach to problem solving in the local landscape. The EEA Program consists of two components: Research Projects and an Annual Symposium. These components provide venues through which faculty and students may directly affect environmental policy. EAA Research Projects address complex issues in Ohio urban and rural landscapes in focused research settings, while the EAA Symposia involve faculty and students from multiple disciplines in fine arts presentations, faculty panel discussions, and a campus-wide interdisciplinary speaker series.

The summer research teams will investigate these problems with multiple methodologies; a summer workshop will focus on the policy implications of the research results. During the academic year, EAA Research Projects will be incorporated into senior independent study and sophomore research projects, and the presentation of results will include on and off-campus venues.

Dr. Henry Kreuzman (Philosophy) will lead a faculty committee that will organize the annual EAA Symposia. Open to all members of the campus and local community, the Symposia will be linked thematically to one of the on-going EAA Research Projects and to courses acrossWooster’s curriculum.
