Director of Development

The College of Wooster seeks an experienced professional to be responsible for major gift solicitation, including outright and planned gifts, as well as personal cultivation and solicitation of the College's alumni and friends. Significant travel is required.

Candidates should have a minimum of five years of fund raising experience and a proven record of achievement, a high level of energy and self-motivation, and a commitment to independent education. Excellent writing and communication skills, the ability to plan and implement multiple activities, and familiarity with on-line databases are required. Knowledge of planned giving vehicles and software is a plus. This position offers the opportunity to work for a national liberal arts college and to be a member of a successful development team. Salary and benefits are competitive.

Academic and Administrative Facilities Custodian - Temporary Position

The College of Wooster is seeking a Custodian for the night shift, 10:00 pm- 6:00 am

  • Must be able to sweep, mop, and vacuum floors, clean and service restrooms, dispose of trash, dust furniture, wash windows, and other duties in cleaning a building.
  • Position requires knowledge and operation of cleaning equipment.
  • Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds is required; and ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Must be organized and able to work effectively with minimum supervision; must be able to report to work on time, as scheduled; flexibility and ability to work in a high-pressure work environment with changing priorities is necessary.
  • Must have a service-oriented work attitude.
  • High School diploma or general education degree preferred.
  • One to three years related experience or training preferred.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and physical with back lifting and cardio tests.

Position is Full-Time/Temporary - no benefits.
Pay rate is $11.00 per hour.

Administrative Assistant - position revised

Full-time, 12-month, hourly-paid position to provide administrative support for the following College functions, programs, and related projects: Institutional Research and Planning, Educational Assessment, the Writing Program, designated grant-funded project(s), and the Advanced Placement Summer Institute.

Responsibilities will vary, but typically include handling information requests, performing clerical functions, directing visitors and calls, drafting documentation and correspondence, conducting research, preparing statistical reports, monitoring the project and program budgets as directed, and initiating purchasing.

Certification program from college or technical school in secretarial or office training preferred with 2 - 5 years related work experience required. Experience working in a college or university setting is preferred.

Essential are strong organization and communication skills and the ability to carry out several tasks simultaneously. The candidates must have the ability to reconcile budget reports. The staff member will use some, or all of the following: Microsoft Office, FileMaker Pro, GroupWise, Excel, Woodle, and web software.

Consultant in The Writing Center

The College of Wooster is seeking a Consultant for the Writing Center. Candidates must have excellent writing and tutoring skills and must like to work closely with students. Consultant's duties include assisting students with learning how to improve their writing skills; working with the College Writing Tutorial; assisting with workshops; and assisting the Director of the Writing Center with special projects related to writing instruction at the College.

Pre-Health Advisor

Ten-month/10-15 hours/week, salaried position to serve in initial one-year appointment. Responsibilities include, but arenot limited to, advising and mentoring students interested in the health professions. Promotes student self-awareness, career exploration and career decision making. Serves as a centralized source of information and coordinates the post-graduate application process for students. Works closely with the Pre-Health Advising Committee. Presents or coordinates programs on health-related topics. Compiles statistical information, updates yearly statistics and maintains office files. Assists with related projects as assigned. by the Director of Career Services. Position includes evening and weekend work. Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree preferred) and related work experience or advising experience required. Essential are strong organization and communication skills and the ability to carry out several tasks simultaneously. Requires general skills in Microsoft Word and Excel and the ability to maintain web pages. Project management and team-based project experience desired. Requires the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

Employment Application Pools

Employment applications are accepted on a continuous basis for two applicant pools:

  1. College Dining Halls
  2. The Wooster Inn

Applicants may complete an application at any time. Human Resources will forward that application to the department that the applicant selects - if they have an opening. When positions open in one of these departments for which an applicant is qualified, the department will contact him/her for an interview. Human Resources does not select the applicants to interview.

Applications will be retained for 30 days, and may be extended by the applicant. If not extended by the applicant, the applications are no longer valid.
