Off-Campus Study inArt and Art HistoryWHY Off-Campus Study is valuable for Art History and Studio Art students as an ideal opportunity to view original works of art and architecture, as well as to obtain extra instruction in practical techniques and styles. HOW If you are an art major who would like to study off campus, you should begin by talking to your adviser or a professor in the department about your plans. You should also make an appointment with the Director of Off-Campus Study in the International Programs Office (107 Babcock; x2951) to discuss the process. WHEN Since Junior I.S. in Art History is only offered in the fall semester, students should plan to study abroad in the spring of their sophomore or junior year. Since Junior I.S. in Studio Art is offered only in the spring, students should plan to study abroad in the fall semester of their junior year. WHAT Students studying off-campus typically choose courses that highlight the existing art curriculum. Students can also easily take courses that transfer as general elective credits, courses required for graduation, or choose to explore an internship. WHERE Numerous programs provide excellent choices for students studying in art. Specific Wooster endorsed programs include internships, course work and studio experience available through the GLCA-recognized New York Arts Program, ACM London and Florence Arts in Context, Studio Arts Centers International (SACI) in Florence, the Siena School for Liberal Arts, or the Glasgow School of Art in Scotland (through Arcadia or IFSA-Butler). |
