GLENCOE, SCOTLAND
Glencoe, for all its beauty, has a brutal
history. In the 1690's the massacre at Glencoe wiped out about
forty-five members of the McDonald Clan. William III, with the
aid of the Campbells, instigated the killings and sent women
and children out into the snow naked.
I had the opportunity to go hill walking
in this beautiful area in the highlands. We hiked straight up
the hills, making our own trails through the heather. Fresh water
springs cropped up throughout the hillside. This photograph was
taken on the second day at Glencoe, a day that I decided to stay
on level ground and look up at by beautiful surroundings. We
lunched next to this loch and avoided stepping on the jellyfish
that had washed up on the beach. It was a very peaceful and relaxing
change.
