Auckland, New Zealand
Auckland is the only city in the world built on top of an active volcanic field. This photo is taken from Mt. Eden, one of the many green bumps of extinct volcanoes that can be seen through out the city area. The most recent eruption in the Auckland area was Mt. Rangitoto 600 years ago. The city has a warning system to help alert its citizens if there were to be an eruption. Many question if the system is up to modern standards or if it would even help at all in time of a crisis. These are issues that the city is dealing with. Auckland is home to 1.3 million people.
