Academic Support
The Learning Center offers individualized tutoring sessions for any College of Wooster student seeking assistance with study strategies and/or organizational and time management issues. In these sessions, adult tutors work with students to maximize their full academic potential at each stage of the undergraduate experience. The Learning Center assists students in linking their academic achievement to the whole college experience.
Sessions at the Learning Center are designed to accommodate the individual needs of each student. Most of the sessions focus on such academic skills as course study strategies, reading texts, note taking from text and from lecture, writing organization, test-taking tips, and time management concerns. While the Learning Center works on general academic management with students, specific subject tutoring is often available in academic departments. Students should check with their professors or department chairs for lists of peer tutors to contact.
Most students face an academic challenge at some point in their college experience. Those who seek early assistance avoid the possibility of becoming overwhelmed as academic demands build throughout the semester. Students are encouraged to seek assistance before those demands become overwhelming, and there are many resources at the College that offer students appropriate support.
