SCOLA
The College of Wooster Libraries provides the campus with a satellite dish that provides access to SCOLA programming in the residence halls on campus. SCOLA Defined
"SCOLA [Satellite Communication for Learning] is a non-profit educational consortium that receives and re-transmits television programming from more than fifty different countries in their original languages. These programs are transmitted via satellite to schools, colleges, universities, government and military installations, cable TV systems, independent TV stations, businesses and private individuals throughout North America and much of the Northern Western Hemisphere. SCOLA currently operates three 24-hour Satellite Channels.
- Channel 1 (current) News programs from approximately 35 different countries in their national or regional languages.
- Channel 2 (current) Variety, Entertainment & the Arts from approximately 10 different countries (changes occur monthly as we get rights to more varied programming.)
- Channel 3 (current) SCOLA's China Channel offers programming from the People's Republic of China (Mainland China). The programming is in Mandarin for the most part. Programs deal with Education, News, Documentaries, Literature, Travel, Poetry, and Leisure Time. Programming subject to change without notice."
