Budget of the U. S. Government (T 51.5:, Pr 32.107:, Pr 33.107:, Pr 34.107:, PrEx 2.8:)
Originally part of the Department of the Treasury, the Bureau of the Budget was transferred to the Executive Office of the President under the government reorganization of 1939. The Bureau's publications were reclassed under each new Administration until 1961, when they were given their own independent classification scheme. The Bureau was renamed the Office of Management and Budget in 1970. The Bureau annually publishes the Budget of the U. S. Government for the upcoming fiscal year, and along with including the budget message of the President, it provides a detailed report from departments and agencies on their proposed budget expenditures as well as real figures from the previous fiscal year. Over the years, multiple additional reports have been separated from the original report, including Budget in Brief, Special Analyses, and Historical Tables. The most important of these reports is the Appendix, which provides the most detailed figures on the fiscal year budget and the most information on what functions each agency is expected to fill. Although the other reports have been assigned separate SuDocs numbers, the Appendix remains under the PrEx 2.8: call number and is thus listed here with the main Budget volume.
