Communication Sources:  A Selected Bibliography: Annual Reviews and Handbooks

Literature reviews can be useful when beginning research on a topic because they give an overview of the research that has been done in a particular area and can serve as springboards for further research. The annual reviews and handbooks listed in this section contain chapters or essays that review the literature on topics within a discipline or subject area. Lists of references usually are provided at the end of each essay or chapter. Keep in mind the publication date of any literature review you find. It is likely you will need to update what you find in such sources with more current books and journal articles.
