Databases and Indexes
- ABC Pol Sci (Library has 1969-1974) WOO Reference JA71 .A3
- is a bibliography of contents for political science and government periodicals. A List of Periodicals in the back includes all the periodical titles mentioned in the volume of ABC Pol Sci.
- CIAO: Columbia International Affairs Online (1991- present)
- is a comprehensive source for theory and research in international affairs. It includes working papers from university research institutes, occasional papers series from NGOs, foundation-funded research projects, and proceedings from conferences. It is divided into the following categories: working papers, conference proceedings, journal abstracts, books, a schedule of events, policy briefs and economic indicators, links and resources, and maps and country data. - Ethnic NewsWatch (1985-present)
- is a full-text collection of newspapers, magazines and journals of the ethnic, minority, and press. The search interface is offered in both English and Spanish. Under the subject of international relations there are many listings from which to choose.
- FBIS Index (coverage: 1977-Jan. 2, 1996)
- These titles index the FBIS publications issued by the Foreign Broadcast Information Service of the U.S. Government. This index divides the world into eight geographic regions, e.g., East Asia, China, East Europe, Latin America, Near East & South Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa, Central Eurasia, and West Europe.
- Each area has its own "FBIS Daily Reports" that include translated transcripts of foreign radio and television broadcasts, news agency transmissions, newspapers, periodicals, and government statements from around the world. The full text of a large percentage of the reports indexed here can be found in The College of Wooster Libraries' collection, especially those from the early 1980's-present. The earlier texts are located in the Government Publications microfiche cabinets under the beginning Superintendent of Documents number PREX 7.10/3: [series]. From 1996 to the present, these publications are on CD-ROM in the Documents CD-ROM cabinets on level 1 (Docs Ref. Electronic PREX 7.10/3: [year and no.]; these CDs can be used on the PC computer near the study rooms in the Gault Library. Contents include FBIS Daily Reports, Joint Publications Research Service Reports, and various other reports. From 1996 onward, there is no index to the CD-ROMs, but they are searchable.
- Handbook of Latin American Studies (Library of Congress) (1935-present)
- Indexes and offers scholarly evaluations of books and book chapters, conference papers, and journal articles from more than 1,350 social science and 550 humanities journals and conference proceedings published worldwide in the field of Latin American studies. Updated monthly.
- International Political Science Abstracts (Library has 1982-present) WOO Reference JA36 .I5
- has provided since 1951 non evaluative abstracts of articles in the field of political science published in journals (and yearbooks) all over the world. Published bimonthly. (Information taken from Explanatory Notes.)
- JSTOR
- includes about journals in the political science, African studies, economics, Latin American studies, Middle East studies, and Slavic studies fields. The database provides an historical coverage usually from the beginning of a periodical title to within five years of the current date. Full-text is available.
- LexisNexis Academic
- A broad-based database that provides indexing and full text access to sources in the general categories of news, business, legal research, medicine, and reference. Political science and international relations topics are covered particularly in the news and reference sections.
- LexisNexis Congressional
- (years of coverage vary) provides indexing and full text access to sources that allow users to: track legislation and public policy, pinpoint expert testimony on leading issues of the day, find authoritative sources of statistics, projections, and analysis; trace legislative history back to 1970, find Congressional member legislative and voting information, find floor votes back to the 100th Congress, investigate the finances of members of Congress, review federal regulations, learn the makeup and mission of congressional committees and subcommittees and much more.
- Search Categories include: CIS Index: CIS indexing and abstracting of congressional publications and the CIS Legislative Histories (1970-present); Congressional Indexes, 1789-1969 and Indexes to Unpublished Hearings; full text of congressional reports, documents, prints, bills and the Congress-ional Record; testimony statements and selected question & answer transcripts (1988-present); bill tracking reports that follow bills through Congress and the text of bills; public laws and the United States Code Service; Federal Register and the Code of Federal Regulations.

- includes annual indexes and abstracts to Congressional hearings, reports, documents, and public laws.
- LexisNexis Statistical
- provides indexing, abstract summaries and full text access to U.S. Government as well as international statistical sources; Political Science is included within its scope. The database includes statistical information from American Statistics Index, Statistical Reference, and Index to International Statistics.
- Index to International Statistics (Library has 1996-present) WOO Reference HA155.I53
- indexes and abstracts the statistical publications of international intergovernmental organizations (IGOs) which are an essential source of basic information on the population, business and financial activities, foreign trade, education, health, and other economic demographic, and political characteristics of national and world regions.
- Newspaper Source (EBSCOhost) (1995-present; emphasis on 2000-present)
- provides indexing, abstracts, and full text for 171 regional U.S. newspapers, 20 international newspapers, 15 newswires and newspaper columns, 24 TV and radio news transcripts, The Christian Science Monitor, The Los Angeles Times, and USA Today (for a total of 233 full text newspapers and other sources.
- PAIS International (1972present)
- indexes articles, books, conference proceedings, government documents, book chapters, Internet sources, and statistical directories about public affairs. Abstracts are included for most records from 1985 to the present. Each year, PAIS indexers review more than 8000 books and issues of more than 1600 periodicals. Newspapers and newsletters are not indexed. PAIS international includes publications from over 120 countries throughout the world. In addition to English, some of the indexed materials are published in French, German, Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish. Updated monthly. - The print edition of PAIS International WOO Reference Z7163 .P9 has had several title changes. The library has complete coverage from 1938-present; this title includes many educational topics within its scope of covering subjects of interest to the public.
- United States Political Science Documents (Library has 1975-1991) WOO Reference. JA36.U58
- is an indexing and abstracting title for over 130 periodicals in the political science field. A Political Science Thesaurus WOO Reference. Z7163.U585 helps the user to find correct terminology for the index. A series of helpful indexes makes this a user-friendly index for the period that it covers.
- Worldwide Political Science Abstracts (1975-7/2006)
- "CSA Worldwide Political Science Abstracts is building on the merged back files of Political Science Abstracts, published by IFI/Plenum, 1975-2000, and ABC POL SCI, published by ABC-CLIO, 1984-2000. Journal Resources
Journal titles can be located in CONSORT by doing an author (corporate), subject, title, or word search. For example, doing a subject search International relationsPeriodicals will give you a list of many periodicals to which we subscribe that are relevant. They may be in paper, electronic, or micro format. If you have a citation for an article in a specific periodical, a title search in CONSORT will tell you if we have the periodical.
