Interlibrary Loan

Policies and Procedures

Books: Interlibrary Loan requests for books can be made only if the books are NOT available from CONSORT or OhioLINK libraries. To borrow from CONSORT or OhioLINK Libraries, see Borrowing Books.

Journal Articles: Interlibrary Loan requests for journal articles can be made for any journal article NOT found in The College of Wooster Libraries or NOT accessible through The College of Wooster or OhioLINK electronic journals web pages.

Most requests will arrive within 5 to 14 business days. You will be notified by e-mail or through campus mail when the materials arrive. Books can be picked up at the Gault Circulation Desk; articles will be sent via campus mail or posted on the ILLiad site.

Borrowing Books

Check the CONSORT Library Catalog. If the book is not available at The College of Wooster but can be found at one of the other CONSORT libraries, click on the Request Item button. The item will be delivered to the Gault Library Circulation Desk in 3-4 business days and you will be notified by e-mail when it has arrived.
If a book is not owned by a CONSORT library, click on the OhioLINK button in CONSORT to redo the search in the OhioLINK Central Catalog. If an OhioLINK library owns the title, you will be given the option to request it. It will be delivered to the Gault Circulation Desk in 3-4 days and you will receive an e-mail.
If a book is not available through CONSORT or OhioLINK, you may submit your Interlibrary Loan (ILL) request through ILLiad, an electronic Web-based interlibrary loan request system. Enter the requested information and the book will be delivered to the Gault Library Circulation desk within two to three weeks. You will receive an e-mail.

Loan Periods

CONSORT: Three weeks. Four renewals may be made for a period of three weeks each.
OhioLINK: Three weeks. Four renewals may be made for a period of three weeks.
ILLiad: Three weeks. May request renewals using the online ILLiad Interlibrary Loan system. Just login the same way you do when requesting materials via ILLIad.

Renew Books

CONSORT and OhioLINK: Access MyCONSORT in the CONSORT catalog system and log in with your name and I.D. barcode number .
ILLiad: Materials can only be renewed by filling out an Interlibrary Loan Renewal Request Form included with the book.
Access the renewal options through the online ILLiad Interlibrary Loan system. Just login the same way you do when requesting materials via ILLiad.

Request Journal Articles

When The College of Wooster Libraries do not own a particular journal or issue of a journal from which you need an article, you may submit a journal article request through ILLiad. Articles usually arrive within one week if they can be obtained from a CONSORT or OhioLINK library; otherwise, it may take from two to three weeks if they are arriving from a library outside Ohio. All journal articles are sent to patrons either electronically or through campus mail.

Area Library Direct Borrowing Privileges

The College of Wooster students, faculty, and staff have direct borrowing privileges at the following area libraries when they present their valid College of Wooster I.D.s. Most libraries do not circulate journals, but all will allow onsite use and photocopying of journal articles.

Wayne County Public Library (must obtain a WCPL or CLEVENET card)

Outside of Wooster:

CONSORT: Denison University, Kenyon College, Ohio Wesleyan University
