IL Session 2: Searching by Source

IL Objectives

Search the following electronic resources for sources on the topic of Bloody Friday.

IL Assignment 2

Summarize, in point form, the steps you would perform to locate (1) a book, (2) a video, (3) a journal article and (4) a newspaper article on the topic of Bloody Sunday.

Use your search outline and the search term Bloody Sunday to conduct a search for the journal article titled “Repression and the Liberal State: The Case of Northern Ireland, 1969-1972”. Give a point-by-point summary of your search. Detail all search terms used and strategies employed for refining initial search results. Print the first page of results obtained at each step in your search to complete the record of your search.

Now search for newspaper articles on the subject of Bloody Sunday published (1) The Irish Times and (2) London newspapers during the past 6 months. Include a complete description of all databases and search terms used as part of your record. Submit a printout of all records obtained in (1) and (2).
