Guest Ranch and Equestrian Experience

Bandera, Texas

To talk about my summer is also to tell a love story, a tale about a passion that burned brightly enough to guide me through the twists and turns of ranch life and eventually lead me home.

As fate would have it, my second day on the ranch, I met Wild Thing, an absolutely gorgeous four-year-old white and red roan paint. I fell in love instantly and throughout the following eight weeks that feeling grew as we both learned to trust each other.

But isn’t that passion after all? Passion not only raises you up and makes you more than you ever thought possible, it can break you into so many pieces you don’t see how you can ever become whole again. And so I find myself shedding both tears of regret and joy. Joy that I did indeed reaffirm and claim my passion. Joy that in Wild Thing, I found a partner able to answer my question with a single glance. And regret, regret that I will never be able to communicate to Wild Thing all he has meant to me or take him on another ride. And so my heart breaks and hopefully in the repairing becomes stronger and less willing to allow passion to slip out of my life again.
