“On my last night I was hit with full blown
emotion of love. It makes you wonder about possession. You can
love money, cars, and your house. But I believe we need to love
people. Love those who love you, love companionship. The children
at Montana de Luz had nothing but love of life, their companions,
and their family of HIV children. The children experience sorrow
and grief, but they know how to love and cherish their time on
earth.”
“Every
morning, I would wake up at 4:30 AM to watch the sunrise. This
was my time to reflect on the HIV virus and why these children
were sentenced to death row when they are innocent before the world
woke up.”
“Since all of the children at the orphanage
were either HIV+ or have full blown AIDS, they are all on medication.
Edmar, who is the oldest child at the orphanage, takes 17 pills
twice a day. They line up every evening to receive their medication.
Many of the children do not understand why they take the medication
or the fact they will die because of this virus that attacks their
bodies.”
