Regulations for the New Member Activities Proposal for Clubs & Sections

  1. The proposal should contain an introduction to the Section/Club that includes the nickname of the group, the name of the advisor(s), and the number of current actives.
  2. All activities must be included in the proposal and must state the time, place, date, and duration of the activity as well as a detailed description of the event itself and the value(s) and expected outcomes to be derived from the activity.
  3. Attached as an appendix to the proposal should be an outline of all new member activities. The outline should include the date, name, time, duration, and location of each event. This outline will be sent to all new members. See examples below:

  4. Each group should have its advisor(s) assist in preparing the proposal. The advisor must sign the Non-Hazing Compliance Form. The signature will indicate that the advisor has reviewed and approved the proposal.
  5. All groups are required to turn in the Non-Hazing Compliance Form, which is to be signed by the president, the new member educator(s), all active members and the advisor(s). This form must be submitted with the new member education proposal.
  6. Clubs and Sections are to submit their proposal of new member activities to the Committee on Social Organizations no later than noon on Friday, November 14. Early submissions are strongly encouraged.
  7. The president, new member educator(s) and hopefully the advisor(s) of each Club and Section may be asked to meet with the CSO to go over their proposal. Any such meetings would occur on Thursday, November 20.
  8. During and after the meeting with CSO, the Committee will indicate any areas needing revision, clarification or elaboration. If a proposal needs significant change, Club or Section leaders will need to talk with the Director of Student Activities about the problems with the proposal. The timeline for submission and return of revised proposals will be set by CSO. Each Club and Section must have an approved proposal by the end of fall semester (December 5) by 4 p.m. in order to conduct new member activities.
