Student Organization Handbook
How to Receive Funding
Once an organization has been chartered, it is now eligible to receive
funding.
There are four main funding resources on campus: Campus Council, the Wooster
Volunteer Network, Club Sports Council and the Student Government Association.
Campus Council Budget Guidelines
Campus Council is responsible for the distribution each year of the funds allocated
to it by the College. Any chartered organization, except for the athletic
or academic organizations (which includes pre-professional clubs), is eligible
to apply for funding unless stipulated otherwise in the organization's charter.
Organizations may apply for Campus Council funding in the Spring Semester
if they are chartered by the end of the tenth full week of Fall Semester.
Campus Council's funding process, which occurs in the late spring for the
following academic year, consists of a written proposal as well as an oral
presentation. Campus Council generally funds major organizations responsible
for campus-wide programs and services. Submitting a request for funding does
not guarantee funding.
To obtain a copy of the Campus Council Budget Guidelines or for more information
concerning the funding process, contact the Treasurer's Office (x2018) or Patrick
Bourke, Chair of Campus Council.
Wooster Volunteer Network (WVN) Fund Request Guidelines
The Wooster Volunteer Network provides funds to organizations chartered through
WVN. Funding requests are taken each semester. A copy of the funding guidelines
can be obtained from the Treasurer of WVN. Questions regarding WVN funding
should be directed to the Chair of WVN at (x2563).
Club Sports Council Fund Request Guidelines
Chartered club sports organizations may apply to Club Sports Council for funding.
Funding may support the acquisition of equipment, supplies for the sport,
entry fees to competitive events, and travel to these events. Members of
club sports organizations are expected to contribute funds to other costs,
if the Club Sports Council funding is not sufficient. Questions regarding
Club Sports Council funding should be directed to the Chair of Campus Council.
Student Government Association (SGA) Fund Request Guidelines
SGA provides funding for chartered student organizations. Funds are allocated
to each organization according to its assessment of the relative merits of
the organizations. Submitting a request for funding does not guarantee that
your organization will receive funding. The funding process consists of the
following steps: 1) filling out a funding request form, and 2) sending a
representative(s) to an interview with the Funding Allocation Committee of
SGA. These two stipulations must be met for the organization to be considered
for funding. SGA will not support any activity that discriminates in any
manner on the basis of gender, religious affiliation, citizenship, race,
sexual orientation or political affiliation. Questions regarding the SGA
funding process or to receive a copy of the SGA Funding Guidelines, please
contact the SGA Treasurer or SGA President at (x2773).
