Selection Criteria for Fall 2007 AMUN Traveling Team
Due to the popularity of Model United Nations at The College of Wooster, usually more people wish to participate in the AMUN conference (November 17-20, 2007) than the school is able to fund. Therefore, this requires the officers to select participants based on established criteria, outlined below, in an attempt to make the process fair and objective. Each prospective team member is assigned points for various components of participation, and the 21 top-scoring people will be chosen to represent Wooster at the AMUN Conference in November. The two essential components MUN officers weigh when determining the traveling team are attendance and performance at the two mock sessions. We are eager to include new people in this program, and past experience does not provide any advantage.

Attendance: To build the most committed team capable of supporting each other at conference, it is vital for team members to know each other. It is no surprise, then, that attendance is key. Every meeting this semester covers an aspect of the conference activities and will make the conference experience easier on each team member. Students must be on time to all the meetings. In Chicago, delegates will have to navigate a large hotel and the United Nations building in order to be on time for committee. If you cannot be on time on our small campus, we assume that you won't be on time in Chicago.

Mock Debate Performance: Besides attendance, participants in the mock debates will be analyzed on the following categories and assigned between 1 and 5 points for each (possible 20 points per session):
1) Speaking ability and enthusiasm in debate
2) Grasp of international issues
3) Understanding of parliamentary procedure
4) Resolution formation
