Linda Antas

Visiting Assistant Professor of Music

Linda Antas, Visiting Assistant Professor of Music, advanced theory, music technology, electronic composition. Appointed 2006 as a leave replacement in 2006-07 for Dr. Peter Mowrey. B.Mus. in Music Composition, University of Illinois; M.Mus. in Music Composition, University of Illinois; D.M.A. in Music Composition, University of Washington. Dr. Antas has taught at the University of Illinois and Idaho State University, and has been a visiting artist at the University of Washington’s Center for Digital Arts and Experimental Media. In 2000-01 she held a Fulbright Fellowship for study in Barcelona, Spain. Her compositions for acoustic and electronic media have received numerous awards and have been publicly performed many times in locations including Seattle, Tacoma, and Spokane, Washington; New York City; Gothenburg, Sweden; Washington, D.C.; Madrid and Barcelona, Spain; Sarvar, Hungary; Udine, Italy; Iowa City; Columbus, Ohio; Kansas City, Missouri; Berkeley and San Jose, California; Ann Arbor, Michigan; Denton, Texas; Charlottesville, Virginia; and Santa Fe, New Mexico. Several of her compositions are included on commercially available compact discs. As a flutist, Dr. Antas has appeared in many public performances as a soloist and a member of chamber ensembles and orchestras. She has also to her credit many performances as a conductor of works by herself and other composers.
