Professor of Music, appointed
1984. B.Mus., Capital University; M.A., University of
Iowa; A.B.D., Music Education, University of Iowa. Taught
in public schools in Arcanum and Versailles, Ohio. As
graduate assistant at Iowa, taught conducting and instrumental
methods, assisted with the Hawkeye Marching Band and conducted
the University Band. Duties at Wooster include directing
the Scot Marching and Symphonic Bands, teaching music
education and conducting courses, and supervising student
teachers. Currently serving as Immediate Past President
of the North Central Division of MENC: The National Association
for Music Education; was President of the Ohio Music Education
Association (1996-98) and Editor of Triad (1991-93). Is
an active music education clinician presenting workshops
throughout the country on such topics as advocacy, rehearsal
tecniques, professional development for music teachers,
assessment, and state and national music education initiatives.
Maintains an active guest conducting schedule throughout
Ohio and in several other states. |

College Conservatory of Music; M.Mus., Kent State University.
Timpanist and Principal Percussionist, Trinity Chamber Orchestra.
Adjudicator for the Ohio Music Education Association. Has recorded
more than twenty compact discs including four with the Cleveland
Chamber Symphony and ones with the Cleveland Percussion Ensemble,
the opera Mim, and various jazz, rock, and country music artists.
Directed the Wooster Percussion Ensemble in the CD recording
of a world premier composition along with a rock band. More
than 5000 live performances to his credit including presidential
inauguration of George Bush and gubernatorial inauguration of
George Voinovich. Has performed with the Cleveland Orchestra
and New York Metropolitan Opera. Has taught at Hiram, Mount
Union, Cuyahoga Community, and Baldwin-Wallace Colleges as well
as Cleveland State and Akron Universities. Led his own band
(since 2001) accompanying numerous artists including Al Martino,
Four Aces, Ink Spots, John Davidson, Four Lads, Bobby Rydell,
and the Supremes. Was chosen in July, 2003 to be a feature performer
at Blossom Music Center with Hollywood arranger Bill Conti conducting
the Cleveland Orchestra. |

Received the BA degree in Computer
Science from The College of Wooster in 1985. The Lakewood, Ohio
native worked as an
intern through the Assistant Director of Microcomputing and
Networking at
Wooster through 1990. He was the Computer Store Manager and
now provides
computer support for Oberlin College. Chester travels with the
Scot
Symphonic Band on their annual Spring Tour and has done so every
year except one, for the past 24 years. Four of those years
were as a student. Chester enjoys travel; he went on the Wooster
in U.S.S.R trip in 1985 and traveled to Australia in 1996 to
get married. He also enjoys cooking and camping.
