Degree Programs in Music
The College of Wooster offers six degree programs in music as well
as the option of designing a Special Major, pursuing a Double Major,
or following a Minor in Music. All degree programs in music at The
College of Wooster are accredited by the National
Association of Schools of Music.
The Bachelor of Music degree offers the most musically complete
curriculum and is intended for students planning to attend graduate
school and then to enter a professional career in music. Students
may choose a major in Performance,
Theory/Composition, or
Music History/Literature.
The Bachelor of Arts in Music degree
is for students seeking an emphasis on music within a strong liberal
arts education.
The Bachelor of Music Education (Public
School Teaching) degree, which leads to licensure in the State
of Ohio, is for students who wish to teach in public schools at the
elementary and/or secondary levels.
The Bachelor of Music Education in
Music Therapy degree program, accredited by the National Association
of Schools of Music and the American Music Therapy Association, prepares
students to use music as a therapeutic tool for the welfare of a variety
of populations, including the elderly, the physically handicapped,
and the mentally impaired.
Special Majors in such areas
as Jazz Studies or Musical Theatre may be designed by Wooster students.
Students may also elect to Double Major
in Music and/or another field.
Students majoring outside music may choose to complete a Minor
in Music.
