Africana Studies 212

African American Folklore

Study of African American folklore in the United States. Focuses on the contextual and historical framework in which folk music, tales, religious practices, and the visual arts evolved. Examines the impact of these traditions upon contemporary American society. Open to non-music majors. No technical knowledge required. Prerequisite: Africana Studies 100 or permission of instructor.
