The Major in Performance
Admission to the B.Mus. in Performance requires
successful completion of an entrance
audition. Only after passing the entrance audition may the student
declare as a major the B.Mus. in Performance. Students who have
not passed the audition by the completion of three semesters of
applied music individual instruction must petition the Chairperson
of the Department of Music for an extension. The B.Mus. in Performance
is accredited by the National
Association of Schools of Music.
32 courses are required for graduation, subject to restrictions
on residency, fractional credit, transfer credit, and course load. 24
courses are taken in music as specified below.
- Music Performance: 6-8 courses
- Enrollment in full credit applied lessons
(Music 220 to 240 or I.S.) throughout the junior and senior years
- Presentation of a half recital during junior year and a
full recital during senior year
- Music Theory: 8 courses
