Jack Steward

Adjunct Instructor, String Bass and Electric Bass

Jack Steward, Adjunct Instructor, string bass and electric bass.  Appointed 2006. B.Mus. in Double Bass Per-formance and Music Education (K-12), Cleveland State University; M.Mus. in Double Bass Performance, University of Michigan. His bass teachers include Jeff Bradetich and Lawrence Hurst at the University of Michigan and Harry Barnoff (Cleveland Orchestra member) at Cleveland State. Mr. Steward was a substitute bass instructor at Cleveland State University in 1987-89. In 1982-83 he was Editor in Chief of the International So-ciety of Bassists Magazine. An active performer in Northeast Ohio for over 25 years, Mr. Steward has played in a broad spectrum of musical styles and venues. He is Principal Bass with the Tuscarawas Symphony in Dover, Ohio, and has performed with the Ohio Light Opera the past two seasons. He was Principal Bass in the Cleveland Chamber Symphony from 1982-1989 and section bass with the Toledo, Akron, and Canton Symphonies during 1981-1989. He has also performed with several big bands and in theater venues in Cleveland and Akron. He mainitains a private bass studio in his home.
