The celebration of the Eucharist, which we believe is the body and blood of Jesus, is the “source and summit” of our Catholic faith. The way that we celebrate is through the mass. On most Sundays we make a pilgrimage to St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Church in Wooster (a five minute walk from campus), but once a month we sponsor a Catholic mass on campus. This liturgy is planned and coordinated by the students of Newman. Students serve as greeters, lectors, Eucharistic ministers, and they help set up and prepare the space. We also have a student lead music ministry. The music ministry is charged with the task of helping to create a celebratory and welcoming environment where we can gather together in praise, worship, and thanksgiving. These on campus liturgies are often followed by a meal, which serves as another time that we can gather together. We have five on campus masses scheduled for the spring semester. The dates for these masses are Jan. 22, Feb. 12, March 5, April 2, and April 30. Check out our calendar for other events! All are welcome, so bring a friend!! |
