Book Addresses Rhetorical Impact of Truman Doctrine Speech
WOOSTER, Ohio - Harry Truman, whose presidency shaped the future of American foreign policy and established a framework for the rhetoric of U.S. Presidents to come, is the focal point of Proclaiming the Truman Doctrine: The Cold War Call to Arms, a book by Denise Bostdorff, professor of communication at The College of Wooster.
An authority on political rhetoric, particularly presidential foreign policy rhetoric on crises and war, Bostdorff draws upon extensive research to provide what one reviewer called "a well-written, thorough, and thoughtful analysis of the Truman Doctrine speech." Bostdorff provides an analysis of this historic address through archival documents as well as personal communication with George Elsey, one of the principals involved in crafting the speech.

Two Wooster Students Selected as Fulbright Scholars
WOOSTER, Ohio - College of Wooster graduates Michelle Ort and Elysia Tonti will spend the coming year teaching abroad after being selected as Fulbright Scholars. Ort will travel to Russia to serve as an English Teaching Assistant (ETA). Tonti will head for Germany, where she, too, will be an English Teaching Assistant.
