Wooster Honors Employees at Service Recognition Luncheon

WOOSTER, Ohio - For the past 35 years, Charlotte Wahl has played a vital role in the academic mission of The College of Wooster, even though she has never taught a class, graded a paper, or administered an exam. Instead, Wahl has worked diligently behind the scenes as an administrative assistant in Kauke Hall, and on Tuesday she was honored for distinguished service along with 60 other employees at the College's annual Service Recognition Luncheon.

Joining Wahl were Frank Knorr, director of development, and Treva Morris, a member of the hospitality services staff, both of whom were recognized for 30 years of outstanding service. In addition, Martha Giet (alumni development), Karolyn King (vice president's office), and Patrick Norman (custodial services), who retired this year, were honored for a combined 45 years of service.

Also recognized for longtime tenure were 25-year employees Dana Baker (hospitality services), William Carlton (campus grounds), Prudence Holtman (college libraries), Bettye Jo Mastrine (president's office), Diane Rossey (chemistry), and Peggy Spencer (residential facilities), along with 20-year veterans Marita Buchanan (hospitality services), John Finn (public information), Richard Martinez (admissions), and Julie Thompson, (Wooster Inn).

Those honored for 15 years of service were Mindy Albright (student wellness center), Adrian Almeraya, (academic and administrative facilities), Joyce Baldner (hospitality services), Gary Beckler (campus grounds), Ken Chapman (golf house), Amy Fair (hospitality services), Rogera Flack (bookstore), Beth Kessinger (Wooster Inn), Jackie Middleton (physics and mathematical science), Jeffrey Moser (physical education center), Judy Plank (residential facilities), Dennis Rice (track and cross country coach), and Wesley Tree (college libraries).

The 10-year honorees were Patricia Banks (hospitality services), Carolyn Buxton (dean of students office), Jennifer Harper (academic and administrative facilities), Sondra Holden (hospitality services), Esther Horst (student wellness center), Bonnie Hughes (physical education center), Mark Marini (service center), Laura McGraw Neill (Ohio Light Opera), Linda Patterson (safety and security), Michael Pegram (residential facilities), Patrice Smith (theatre and communication), Debra Stowers (residential facilities), Sue Sturges (Wooster Inn) Barbara Swartzentruber (hospitality services), and Lanny Whitaker (service center).

Those marking their fifth year at the College were Amy Allen (admissions), Jessica Armstrong (development), John Baker (hospitality services), Bonnie Carpenter (hospitality services), Lynn Cornelius (safety and security), Jonathan Edwards (admissions), Noreen Fain, (academic and administrative facilities), James Fishburn (administrative purchasing), Cathy Holderbaum (hospitality services), Gladys Keegan (hospitality services), Lynne Kuffner, student wellness center), Patricia Lavelle (campus ministries), Douglas McGlumphy (art museum), Kathleen Miller (campus grounds), Clara Ray (hospitality services), Santha Schuch, (facilities and scheduling), and Rose Seling (business office).
