Alex Gustafson, Malcolm Campbell-Taylor, Kate Donnelly star in The College of Wooster's production of Shakespeare's "The Comedy of Errors."
WOOSTER, Ohio - The College of Wooster will present William Shakespeare's "The Comedy of Errors" Oct. 22-24 in Freedlander Theatre (329 E. University St.). Performances begin nightly at 8:15 p.m. Tickets are $9 for general admission, $6 for senior citizens, faculty, staff, and non-Wooster Students.
In typical Shakespearean style, "The Comedy of Errors" abounds with mistaken identities, wordplay, and physical comedy. The errors begin when Dromio and Antipholus of Syracuse arrive in the City of Ephesus where, unbeknownst to them, their long lost twin brothers, also named Dromio and
Antipholus, reside. Bloopers and blunders galore follow the characters as they attempt to navigate their way through the city, which they feel is "enchanted."
Season Ellison, the James N. Wise Visiting Assistant Professor in Theatre, directs the
Shakespearean classic, which features a diverse group of promising young students, including first-years Isabelle Briggs, Malcolm Campbell-Taylor, Kate Donnelly, Alex Gustafson, Alex Horning, Charlotte Shapiro, Ryan Shafranek, Jasmine Verreen, and Annie Woller; along with sophomores Maria Cox, Bridget Hillyer, Bobby Kogan, and Derrick Schrock; and seniors Nathan Comstock, Tim Gilliss, Alex Kiriakidis, and Laura Vandiver. Ellison earned her Ph.D. from Bowling Green University earlier this year. Her recent directing credits include "The Shape of Things," "Fat Pig," and "The
Laramie Project."
Dale Seeds, professor of theatre at Wooster, designed the set; Jody Tidwell designed the lighting: and Charlene Gross designed the costumes. Darius Dixon, a first-year student, will coordinate the sound, and Alex Paolino Gibson, a senior, will serve as production stage manager and assistant director.
