College Mourns Passing of Emeritus Trustee Robert Meeker

WOOSTER, Ohio, Aug. 5, 2010 - The College of Wooster mourns the passing of Robert B. Meeker '51, an emeritus life member of the college's board of trustees, who died Sunday in Traverse City, Mich. He was 81.
Meeker was born in Troy, Ohio, and earned a bachelor's degree in physics from The College of Wooster in 1951. Following service in the U.S. Army, he completed three years of graduate study at M.I.T., and joined the Hobart Corporation, where he worked until 1982, rising to president of international operations. He left to start his own firm in 1982.
Meeker joined Wooster's board in 1976 and served the college as a trustee for 27 years. He was actively involved in two major capital campaigns, and a member of the W Association. He was elected an emeritus life member of the board in 2003.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 9, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lake Leelanau, Mich. A complete obituary may be found in the Traverse City Record-Eagle.
