James H. Williams, Jr.
Wooster, Ohio, Aug. 12 – James H. Williams, Jr. has been
named multicultural recruitment coordinator and senior associate director of
admissions at The College of Wooster.
Williams comes to the college from St. Lawrence University,
in Canton, N.Y., where he has served as associate director of admissions and
director of multicultural recruitment since 2007. He brings more than 30 years
experience in admissions and student affairs at selective liberal arts
colleges, including Davidson College in Davidson, N.C., Middlebury College in
Middlebury, Vt., and Antioch College in Yellow Springs, Ohio.
Williams began his admissions career as an assistant
director of admissions at Brown University in Providence, R.I. He holds a
bachelor’s degree in American history from Middlebury.
“Jimmy Williams has a depth and breadth of experience in
admissions and multicultural recruitment at liberal arts colleges that few of
his peers can match,” said Scott Friedhoff, vice president for enrollment and
college relations at Wooster. “He is extremely well connected and respected in
this profession, and brings fresh ideas and perspectives that will help us
continue the enrollment success Wooster is experiencing.”
The College of Wooster is an independent liberal arts
college, nationally recognized for an innovative curriculum that emphasizes mentored,
independent research. Each Wooster senior works one-on-one with a faculty
adviser to create an original research project, written work, performance or
art exhibit. Founded in 1866, the college enrolls approximately 2,000 students.
