WOOSTER, Ohio, April 5, 2011 – The College of Wooster and
Kellogg’s Food Away From Home program are teaming up this month to donate
thousands of serving of cereal to a local food bank. For every bowl of Kellogg’s
cereal consumed in the college’s dining halls during the month of April,
Kellogg will donate a bowl to the Akron-Canton Food Bank.
Based on normal consumption patterns, the college estimates
some 6,400 servings of cereal will be donated when the campaign ends on April
30.
“College of Wooster students are involved in the community
in many ways, giving hundreds of hours of service each year, “ said Chuck
Wagers, director of campus dining services. “Kellogg provides another great
opportunity for the students to become involved, and gives us a chance to make
a difference in the lives of those who have much less than we do.”
“Kellogg has supported food banks across the U.S. f or
nearly 30 years. On average, the company donates $20 million of products
annually,” said Tim Knowlton, vice president, corporate social responsibility
for Kellogg Company. “Our partnership with The College of Wooster and the
Akron-Canton Food Bank is an example of our continued commitment to helping
those challenged in these economic times.”
The College of Wooster is an independent liberal arts
college, nationally recognized for teaching excellence and a curriculum built
around mentored undergraduate research. Every Wooster senior works one-on-one
with a faculty adviser to create an original research project, written work,
