WOOSTER, Ohio — Skidmore College Professor Michael Mudrovic will visit The College of Wooster to present a public lecture, titled “Traversing the Cultural Landscape: Art, History, and the Poet in Luis Javier Moreno's Poemas de Segovia” on Thursday, April 21. The event, which is free and open to the public, begins at 4:15 p.m. in Room 244 of Kauke Hall (400 E. University St.). Refreshments will be available following the lecture, along with a chance to talk with Mudrovic about his scholarship.
Mudrovic is the author of two books on contemporary Spanish poetry — Breaking New Ground: The Transgressive Poetics of Claudio Rodríguez (Lehigh University Press, 1999) and Mirror, Mirror on the Page: Identity and Subjectivity in Spanish Women’s Poetry (Lehigh UP, 2008). He is a recipient of the U.S. Department of Education’s Excellence in Education Award (1986), and his scholarly work has appeared in many of the leading journals in Hispanic Studies, including Hispanic Poetry Review, Revista de Estudios Hispánicos, Romance Quarterly, Revista Hispánica Moderna, Anales de la Literatura Española Contemporánea, Letras Peninsulares, and Boletín de la Fundación Federico García Lorca.
Mudrovic was the Business and Publications Editor for Revista de Estudios Hispánicos for 14 years, and for the past six years he has served on the editorial board of Anales de la Literatura Española Contemporánea. In addition, he has taught at Washington University in Saint Louis and the University of Kansas.
