WOOSTER, Ohio — The College of Wooster’s Center for Entrepreneurship (C4E) will host “E-Kickoff” on Friday, Sept. 16, from 4-6 p.m. in Lean Lecture Room of Wishart Hall (303 E. University St.). Admission is free and open to the public. Complimentary refreshments will be available.

The event will feature a series of speakers with diverse backgrounds and entrepreneurial experiences, including Michael Schneider, President of McPherson College, who will talk about the relevance of entrepreneurship in a liberal arts education. Other speakers will be Brian Boyer (Manuscript Tracker), Morgan Randall (Morgan Randall Jewelry), James Pooler (JNP Group, LLC), Rudy Christian (Christian & Son, Inc.) and a representative from ABSMaterials in Wooster. Each speaker will address some of the fundamental difficulties faced by startups, as well as some of the more challenging aspects of modern business. The event will also feature live music by a student band, a Cornhole tournament, and an instant-idea competition in which entrants can win cash prizes.

The Center for Entrepreneurship engages in and organizes various programs and events to foster the entrepreneurial spirit among students and community members throughout the year. C4E develops student initiatives by cultivating ideas and providing resources for growth, research, legal advice, and feasibility assessment. It also hosts speaker series, co-ordinates campus-wide idea competitions, sponsors student trips to nationwide entrepreneurial and business conferences, and coordinates a large-scale internship program that connects students with expanding businesses to provide a real-world learning experience. One of the major productions of C4E is “The Jam,” an art and music extravaganza that connects the college and the community by providing a common podium for exposure of their artistic and musical talents, while offering publicity to local businesses as well.

Additional information is available by phone (330-263-2267) or the C4E website.
