Wooster Chorus Performs with The Cleveland Orchestra and Chorus
Christmas concert draws capacity crowd in Severance Hall
WOOSTER, Ohio — The Wooster Chorus performed with the internationally acclaimed Cleveland Orchestra and Chorus in sold-out Severance Hall on Dec. 14. It was the opening night of The Cleveland Orchestra's annual series of Christmas Concerts, and it was quite the Wooster event with alumni, parents, and guests on hand. Also in attendance were College of Wooster President Grant Cornwell and First Lady Peg along with several of the Wooster Trustees, who attended the reception and the performance.
The invitation to The Wooster Chorus came from Cleveland Orchestra Director of Choruses, Robert Porco, who conducted all of the Christmas concerts. The program consisted of traditional holiday favorites as well as newer pieces, both classical and contemporary.
“It went really well,” said Lisa Wong, director of the Wooster Chorus as well as assistant director of choruses and director of the youth chorus with The Cleveland Orchestra. “Our students were very excited. It was a great opportunity for them to perform with a world-class organization. We hope it is a collaboration that will continue into the future.”
Representing Wooster were Alyssa Angle, Leah Bowers, Anne Briggs, Cullen Dolson, Brian Fancher, Amanda Friedman, Dan Groves, Cara Haxo, Liz Kittner, James May, Sarah Mitchell, Susannah Montgomery, Adrian Murphy, Ryan O'Dell, Mickey Osthimer, Kenneth Perry, Erin Posey, Trevor Pozderac, Katy Reindel, Peter Rohweder, Sarah Roth, Kristen Scuderi, Jordan Shremshock, Chelsea Silva, Lara Sinangil, Lauren Smith, Summit Starr, and Kyle Weyer.
