WCWS Joins iHeartRadio Network

Selection based on station's national ranking

January 23, 2012 by John Finn

The College of Wooster’s radio station, WCWS-FM (WOO 91), has been invited to join Clear Channel’s iHeartRadio network, a collection of more than 800 broadcast radio stations across the country. As part of the network, WOO 91 will be available to anyone anywhere at anytime by visiting iHeart.com or downloading the iHeartRadio app on their smart phone.

“We’ve identified WOO 91 as one of the top college stations in the country," said Samantha Barton, digital coordinator for Clear Channel Radio. "Our hope is that iHeartRadio can help Wooster connect students and alumni throughout the country."

Established in 1922, WCWS is a student-run station located in Wishart Hall and situated on the FM band at 90.9. In August, the Princeton Review ranked Wooster as the ninth-best radio station in the U.S., ahead of such schools as Fordham, Providence, and Kansas.

"We are really excited to join the iHeartRadio network," said Jason Weingardt, general manager of WCWS. "It will be great exposure for the station and the College." WCWS is expected to be available on the network by the end of this week.
