WOOSTER, Ohio, Nov. 1, 2012 - A memorial service for former registrar W. Lee Culp, who served The College of Wooster for more than 30 years, will be held Friday, Nov. 16, at 11 a.m., at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Mackey Hall, 343 E. Pine Street, with Pastor Andries Coetzee officiating. Prior to the service, Culp's ashes will be buried at 9:30 a.m. in a military service at Wooster Cemetery. Culp died Oct. 29 at the age of 95.

Culp graduated from Wooster in 1941 and enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps, serving with distinction in the Pacific. He earned both the Silver Star and Bronze Star, and rose to the rank of major by the end of the war. Returning to Wooster in 1947, he held a series of positions, including director of admissions, director of development, and registrar, before retiring in 1985.

As registrar, Culp helped launch one of the college's most beloved traditions: handing out Tootsie Rolls to seniors as they turn in their Independent Study projects.
