College of Wooster Dance Company to Present Annual Fall Concert

Performances scheduled for Nov. 15-17 in Freedlander Theatre

WOOSTER, Ohio — The College of Wooster Dance Company will present its annual fall concert Nov. 15-17 in Freedlander Theatre (329 E. University St.). Performances, which are free and open to the public, begin at 8:15 p.m. each evening, but limited seating is available so advanced reservations are suggested. All tickets are general admission.

This year's concert features the work of nine student choreographers: seniors Annie Woller, Darius Dixson, and Jasmine Verreen; juniors Clara Hobson, Emily Paulus, Shakera Blackmon, and Shannon McKnight; sophomore Lauren Abbatiello; and first-year Emi Donato. Students are responsible for every aspect of this production from dance to design as well as managing the concert. The crew will include seniors Kate Donnelly (assistant stage manager), Amanda Wagner (production assistant), Kaleigh Richards (lighting designer), and Kenneth Perry (lighting designer); juniors Chelsea Gillespie (lighting designer) and Zoe Kopp-Weber (run crew); sophomores Audrey Platt (stage manager), Sidney Martin (lighting designer), and Nora Yawitz (run crew); and first-years Dani Gagnon (lighting designer) and Summit Starr (run crew).

Faculty involved in the production are Jody Tidwell (technical director), Kimberly Tritt (director and professor of dance), Charlene Gross (costume, hair, and make up director), Chuck Findley (sound designer), and Dave Tidwell (set designer).

“This concert is sure to visually and aurally entertain the audience,” said Platt. “Each piece is unique and self-contained, and many styles of dance are represented, but the choreographers, dancers, and designers all share a passion for their work and this really comes through in the pieces.”

Although there is no thematic link between the various dances, the majority center on ideas surrounding individual and collective identities.
