Pianist Frank Huang will present a recital at The College of Wooster on Saturday, Feb. 2.
WOOSTER, Ohio — Cleveland-based pianist Frank Huang will present a solo piano recital on Saturday, Feb. 2, at The College of Wooster. The performance, which is free and open to the public, begins at 7:30 p.m. in Gault Recital Hall of the Scheide Music Center (525 East University Street).
The program will consist of Franz Joseph Haydn’s Sonata in Eb Major, Hob. XVI/52; Johannes Brahms’ Klavierstücke, Op. 119; Franz Liszt’s arrangement of “Isolde’s Liebestod” from Richard Wagner’s opera, Tristan und Isolde; and Modest Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition.
Huang, who teaches at The College of Wooster and Cuyahoga Community College, has concertized in notable venues throughout North America, South America, and Europe with critical acclaim. New York Concert Review described Huang at his debut recital in Weill Recital Hall, Carnegie Hall, as a “thoughtful and accomplished performer,” while the Chopin Foundation of the Northwest Chapter praised him as a “pianist with authority and panache.” He is the prizewinner of several important international competitions, including the 2010 World Piano Competition and the 2007 Artists International Auditions. Huang made his Wooster solo recital debut and recently performed with the Wooster Symphony Orchestra in 2011. He holds Bachelor of Music and Masters of Music degrees from The Juilliard School and a Doctorate of Performing Arts from The Cleveland Institute of Music.
