College Mourns Passing of Patrick H. Milligan '50

WOOSTER, Ohio, Jan. 16, 2013 – Patrick H. Milligan ’50, a member of The College of Wooster’s board of trustees from 1969 to 1975, died Monday, Jan. 14, at his home in Sidney, Ohio. He was 84.

Milligan, a basketball standout who helped lead the Fighting Scots to an Ohio Athletic Conference championship in 1948, earned his degree in economics from Wooster in 1950. Following a three-year stint in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, he joined the family business, the Sidney Sand and Gravel Company, later renamed Milligan Construction, Inc. Milligan served as the company’s president until his retirement in 1992.

Milligan served on the college’s Alumni Board from 1965 to 1968, and on the Board of Trustees from 1969 to 1975.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Carol (Benson) Milligan, a 1952 graduate of The College of Wooster, along with two children, their spouses, and five grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 19, at 2 p.m., at the First Presbyterian Church in Sidney, Ohio. A complete obituary may be found here.
