WOOSTER, Ohio, March 29, 2013 - The College of Wooster mourns the passing of Rodney S. Williams, who served for more than 40 years in a variety of roles before his retirement  from the college in 1999. Williams died on March 12. He was 87.

Williams graduated from Wooster in 1948, following his return from active duty in the U.S. Army, where he saw combat in North Africa, Italy, and France, and earned the Bronze Star. After working as a freelance photographer and an assistant to a staff photographer at Life magazine, he returned to his alma mater to work in the admissions office. He served as executive assistant to the president from 1958 to 1969, director of publications from 1969 to 1999, and editor of the alumni magazine from 1971 to 1985.

A celebration of Williams' life will be held at a later date at Westminster Presbyterian Church.
