The Four Freshmen Featured in Symphony Holiday Concert on Dec. 5
The Wooster Singers and Wooster Chorus also will perform
WOOSTER, Ohio — The famous singing group, The Four Freshmen, will join the Wooster Symphony Orchestra (WSO) for its biennial Holiday Concert on Thursday, Dec. 5, at 7:30 p.m. in McGaw Chapel (340 E. University St.).
Now in their 64th year of performing, The Four Freshmen continue to bring their unique brand of vocal harmony to audiences worldwide. The legendary sound that began in 1948 continues on in the 21st Century with a new generation of singers: Brian Eichenberger, Curtis Calderon, Bob Ferreira, and Stein Malvey. The quartet will perform with the WSO in such holiday songs as “White Christmas,” “Snowfall,” and “Winter Wonderland,” as well as Four Freshmen hit tunes “Poinciana,” “Day By Day,” and “It’s A Blue World.”
Also featured in the performance will be the combined Wooster Singers and Wooster Chorus, conducted by Lisa Wong, assistant professor of music at The College of Wooster. The choruses will join the Wooster Symphony for the traditional holiday tunes: “Ding Dong! Merrily On High,” “Bring A Torch, Jeanette, Isabelle,” and “Silent Night,” as well as the “Angels’ Carol,” composed by John Rutter. The Wooster Symphony Orchestra will open the program with such holiday standards as “Sleigh Ride,” “Good King Wenceslas,” and “Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer.”
Tickets for the concert, which is sponsored by the Women's Committee for the Wooster Symphony Orchestra, are $15 for adults and $5 for students, and may be purchased at Buehler’s Milltown, Buehler’s Towne Market, Buehler’s Orrville, The Wooster Book Company, the Wilson Bookstore in Lowry Center (1189 Beall Ave.), and at the door on the night of the concert.
